virussmoptThe process needed to remove this type of virus from hard drive and memory is as follows:

NOTE: The instructions below are for Windows 95, 98 and ME. Users of NT, 2K and XP should not reboot their machine and should consult their anti-virus vendor for case-by-case support. The process below will not remove viruses from infected floppies, these must be scanned and disinfected after the memory and hard drive are clean.

* Boot the machine from a clean, write-protected floppy system diskette.
* This will take you to the DOS prompt (something like A:\> .)
* You now need to run your anti-virus scanner or disinfect manually.

How to tell whether Windows Scripting Host (WSH) is installed on your machine and how to disable the running of VBS scripts. This prevents viruses such as VBS/LoveLet-A from infecting your machine.

When Windows, Internet Explorer or some other products are installed or upgraded Windows Scripting Host may be reinstalled. You would then have to repeat the procedures described below.

Some applications require Windows Scripting Host. They will cease to function if it is disabled or removed.

A trojan horse could be either:
a) Unauthorized instructions contained within a legitimate program. These instrcutions perform functions unknown to (and probably unwanted by) the user.

b) A legitimate program that has been altered by the placement of anauthorized instructions within it. These instructions perform functions unknown to (and probably unwanted by) the user.

c) Any program that appears to perform a desirable and necessary function but that (because of unauthorized instructions within it) performs functions unknown to (and probably unwanted by) the user.

Here are some tips to remain safe but no one can give you 100% guarantee but these tips may help:

Computer Viruses1. Email is one of the common ways by which your computer can catch a virus. So it is always recommended to stay away from SPAM. Open only those emails that has it’s origin from a trusted source such as those which comes from your contact list. If you are using your own private email host (other than gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc.) then it is highly recommended that you use a good anti-spam software. And finally NEVER click on any links in the emails that comes from untrusted sources.

2. USB thumb/pen drives is another common way by which viruses spread rapidly. So it is always a good habit to perform a virus scan before copying any data onto your computer. NEVER double-click the pen drive to open it. Instead right-click on it and select the option “open”. This is a safe way to open a pen drive.
